Amputation to Restoration

Remember when you were younger and you were playing outside with friends and as you were running, you tripped over your shoestrings and skid your hands and knee’s? A few seconds later, the burn from the ripped skin starts to set in and so does the bleeding.

You know you need to clean it with soap and water. And, you probably need band aides on all the scrapes, but it’s still too raw to even touch, much less clean.

Bear with me, I’m going somewhere with this..

There are all sorts of wounds from superficial to life threatening. I can’t imagine the wounds that Jesus, physically and mentally, had on his way down the Via Delarosa.

I wonder why God allows wounds. How do you get past your wounds?

The past few years of my life, my wounds have cut to the bone to where a few had to be amputated… Then, when new skin was trying to grow back, it hurt so badly. The skin was stretching and growing. But, if you would have asked me, I would have said, forget it, if I have a choice, I would rather not go through this…

You see my wounds were the death of Bryan to more recently, things others had done to me with broken trust, manipulation, controlling spirit, lying, and stealing to name a few… It was all from people I had known for a long time, and I thought I really knew them..  I begged and cried for an IV of pain medicine to knock me out from the horrible pain of my wounds. But, nothing at the time helped.

Several days later, I started to see a scab over my wounds… It was so hard not to pick at it or mess with it. It was healing!! I was so excited!

Through the process, I was reminded of one of my favorite scriptures, Isaiah 53 MSG, “But the fact is, it was our pains he carried—our disfigurements, all the things wrong with us…He took the punishment, and that made us whole. Through his bruises we get healed.” Another version says it this way, “He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.”

Just as Jesus forgave those who crucified Him, I too can forgive, for they know not what they do.

Be Ye Healed of all your wounds in Jesus Name! I am heeding my own advice tonight!
